Spring has Sprung: 5 Things to do in Lower Lonsdale

Ahhhh, Spring is here. The flowers are beginning to bloom, the weather is getting warmer, and we’re getting a first glimpse into what summer will feel like! After a cold, rainy winter, it’s finally warm enough to get outside with friends and family. The weather is even nice enough to resume that daily exercise routine that you postponed until the weather improved (but we won’t tell anyone if you don’t!). No matter what you like to do, there is something for you in Lower Lonsdale. Don’t believe us? Here are five fun things to do now that spring has sprung:

1: Grab an Ice Cream

Finally, you won’t get any more weird looks from pedestrians for eating your double scoop outside on a rainy December day! Spring means that ice cream is officially back on the menu! Whether it’s an afternoon snack, a dessert after dinner in the Shipyards, or an indulgent breakfast on a Sunday morning, enjoy a scoop (or two!) at one of the many delicious ice creameries that Lower Lonsdale has to offer!

Some Great Ice Cream Options in LoLo:

  • The Welcome Parlour

  • Earnest Ice Cream

  • Frux Gelato

  • Menchies Gelato

  • Pier Gelato

  • Lilium Bakery

  • Ross Crèpe & Café

  • Olde World Confections Fudge

2: Have a Coffee on the Pier with a Friend

We all have that one friend who we love, but don’t see nearly enough. This Spring, reach out! Don’t worry, they won’t think it’s weird, especially after the last few years we’ve had! They’ve probably been missing you too, and it’s never too late to reconnect… And what better way to do so than with a warm, delicious latté in your hands, sitting on a bench on the pier, overlooking the Vancouver Skyline?

3: Enter Our Photo Contest!

Spring is a photographer’s dream. Flowers are in bloom, sunny days are on the rise, and even when it’s raining, there’s a greater chance of rainbows! Whether you’re capturing a candid of your friend and their dog, experimenting with double exposures on your vintage film camera, or snapping a radiant photo of the warm and vibrant sunsets, we want to see it! Lower Lonsdale hosts a monthly photo contest, where the winner (who is chosen by you) receives $100 courtesy of the Botto Team! Click here for more information!

4: Have Dinner and Watch the Sunset

Now that it’s Spring, the days are long enough that it’s finally possible to get dinner and leave when there is STILL DAYLIGHT! Who would've thought?! That means that you can now grab dinner in Lolo with your friends and family, then watch the sunset from the pier, at the gazebo, or at one of the many other great locations to view the incredible sunsets from this Spring. How incredible, you ask? Well, believe it or not, Inside Vancouver rated Lonsdale Quay as one of the best places to watch the sunset in all of Vancouver! How could you go wrong?

5: Plan a picnic

Spring in North Van means that it’s finally warm enough to spend some days in the sun. That means it’s the perfect time to get back into picnics! Grab your blanket, pack a basket with all of your favourite foods, and head to the park! To make things even better, some parks in Lower Lonsdale, such as Waterfront park and Victoria Park, even allow you to drink alcohol from 11am-dusk. That means break out the wine or cold beer - It’s Picnicking time!
