With Culture Days just beginning, there are a lot of awesome activitities for you to do all over the Vancouver Area with your friends and family! There will be everything from movie showings and dance classes, to museum tours and educational lectures, so there is truly something for everyone. There are so many different ways to get involved with your local community over the next few weeks, and you can learn more about the different options here:

Lower Lonsdale will be hosting some fun activities during Culture Days as well. One event coming up is a free community environmental art workshop with artist Pierre Leichner. The event will be taking place at Victoria Park on October 1st from 1-4 PM. Participants will learn about how to create their own art installations and will create their own environmental art installations during the course. The workshop will include how to fit your work with the environment, how to choose and experiment with natural materials to draw contour lines on site, and more. Although the course is free, registration is required ahead of time. To register online, click here:

The course will be led by Pierre Leichner, an artist who was born in Romania, then moved to France until he was 13 before moving to Montréal. He graduated from Queens University with a degree in psychology, and now works at the University of British Columbia. In 2002, he began working towards a Bachelor of Fine Arts at Emily Car Institute of Arts and Design, and graduated in 2007. Pierre’s art is a reflection of his observations of society, combining all of the different worlds that he’s lived and worked in over the years. He has a wealth of knowledge to offer aspiring artists, and the class will surely be interesting and informative. We hope that you will join him on October 1st, and tag us in your photos when you post your amazing work! Learn more about Pierre Leichner here:
