Summer Activities in Lower Lonsdale
Summer has (finally) made it to Lower Lonsdale! Break out your shorts and flip-flops, and get ready for some summer fun in North Van. We have the perfect intersection between big city bustle and secluded outdoor living. A forest or park is never too far away, so you don’t have to feel cooped up indoors. Lower Lonsdale has some incredible options for things to do in the Summer. Looking for some ideas? Here are a few of our suggestions for summer activities in ‘Lolo’:
Visit the Museum of North Vancouver
Have you ever wanted to learn more about the history of your neighborhood? Are you trying to find some ways to incorporate some learning into your kid’s summer break? Monova is the place for you! The museum is open on Thursdays from 8am-10pm, and Friday-Sunday from 10am-5pm, and is the best way to learn all about North Vancouver’s history.
For those craving fresh air, Monova is also hosting FREE walking tours every Thursday and Sunday until September 4th! North Vancouver played a big role in the advent of Canada, especially when building ships during wartime. Monova’s walking tours will focus on the Shipyards’ place in Canada’s World War II history, and the contributions they made to building and repairing Canada’s navy fleet. The tours run twice per day at 11:00am and 1:00pm, and the meeting place is at the foot of Lonsdale and Victory Ship Way (near Unity Clothing, Tap & Barrel, and the Pipeshop).

Walk (or Ride) the Spirit Trail
Does it even feel like working out if you’re doing it out in the sun? North Vancouver is a great city to spend your time outdoors, and we are lucky to have a lot of great infrastructure for it! Designed to enhance the city’s walkability and promote healthy living, The Spirit Trail is an urban greenway project that is currently planned to follow the coastline from Deep Cove to Horseshoe Bay! Many sections are still in development; however, the City of North Vancouver’s sections are complete!
The City of North Van’s portion of the Spirit Trail is 6.5km long and aims to connect North Vancouver landmarks such as Lonsdale Quay, The Shipyards and Moodyville Park. It is a multi-use trail, open to pedestrians, cyclists, and roller-bladers of all ages! It’s fun, safe for kids, and a great way to get some exercise or just get from point A to B. It even connects to other urban trails in North Van, such as the Green Necklace!
